Lake Malawi Cichlid - Cynotilapia Afra Lake Malawi - Cyrtocara Moori Lake Malawi - Cyrtocara Moori Pt 2
Hey !Guess what ? u can view a few videos of our Malawi setup on where else but on 'Youtube' by just simply searching for 'ganonlim'. A couple of really good videos ( not in HD 1080 yet but will soon be ) . A brilliant idea i ( The Director ) had on paper but not on reel was to hv the manufacturers running around in circles in the buff with the Aquarium Backgrounds held up high in their hands but the majority votes got this idea shot down straight away ! i would hv volunteered but i am a Director not an actor!. So what u will see is actually our edited tapes ( what we gathered fr the cutting room floor ). Let u common folks out there hv a chance on a 'behind the scene's secret, believe it or not production's cost runs into the 7 digits for each of our videos !That's what really separates the Men from the Boys !.We are 110% confident that Avatar can't even comes close !!! , who is James Cameron ??? Prizes and huge discounts will be awarded in a black-tie ceremony at the Ritz Carlton to the smart alec who can guess the title of the song for each of our videos!. A clue to one of the songs is by the one with the messy hairstyle who is on par with Jimmi Hendrix , Stevie Ray Vaughn , Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Eddie Van Halen and of course the legendary Mr Jimmy Page !
*Installation Guide* : Rockwall // Treewall
A simple ( ??? ) guide to the installation of our Rockwall//Treewall panels. Don't know how and never use Autocat so i will do it by the the Old School's way. I will try to translate as accurately as possible the actions into words of the entire procedure. If you do not understand or are confused just fish ( excuse the pun ) out your wallet and call me but please don't take for granted that i will come running on all four cylinders !. i have my own life to live just like everyone else u know ! .
For tank size : 120 x 60 cm
What you will need : Tank , metal ruler , NT cutter , black silicone , 2 pcs 50x55cm and 1 pc of 20x55 cm Rockwall.

Rockwall : Total 3 pcs : 50x55cm 2 pcs n 20x55cm 1 pc First : Lay your tank on it's back.
If your tank comes with strengthening bars it will not be a problem at all. Our Rockwall/Treewall are designed in such a way that you do not have to remove them before installation. For tanks with strengthening bars , just measure and cut a groove on the top side of the Rockwall to let it rest flatly on the top and level with the top edge of the Rockwall.

Start off with the extreme left side ( or extreme right ) of your tank with the 20x55 cm piece. This piece comes with a straight and jagged side. Shave off a bit at an angle of the straight side and the bottom so that when you press against the glass it will fits snuggly with a small gap. Do not silicone to the tank at this stage.
The second piece which is the 50x55 cm comes with two jagged sides , prepare this piece by shaving off a bit also at an angle of the bottom by using your NT cutter. After that , it should fits nicely to the back of the tank without a gap between the glass and the back of the Rockwall. There is no need to do anything to the sides and do not add silicone just yet.
The third and final piece which is also another 50x55 cm ,this is also identical to the 2nd piece . Lay out the 1st and 2nd piece inside the tank and measure from the end of the second piece to the end of the inner wall of the tank. With this measurement , transfer it to the 3rd and last piece and trim off the excess with your NT cutter the side and bottom so as to let it fit to the back and side of the tank. Do not add silicone yet.

Do a dry run with all 3 pieces in the tank. Lay them side by side and adjust it to the best possible fit. Do not worry if you have made a mistake and shaved off more than you needed to from the side because you can hide this gap by using a bit more silicone to cover it. If all 3 pieces fit to the side and back , then it's time to silicone them to the tank. Here is how it looks like before the Rockwalls are glued to the back of the tank.( see pic above on the right )
Do this in sequence :
1st pc : Squeeze out small lumps of silicone onto the back of the panel and press it to the side and back of the tank.
2nd pc : Likewise with the silicone and press to the side and back to joint up with the 1st piece.
3rd pc : Likewise with the silicone and press to the side and back to join up with the 2nd piece.
*Tips* : Points to take note of ............
On both sides of the tank where the Rockwall meets the glass, you can add a line of silicone from the top running all the way down to the bottom of the tank for a more natural look. For gaps inbetween the joints you can simply add more silicone to cover them. Alternatively , you can also paint or paste black paper to the outside back wall of the tank.
Finally , put something heavy like rocks on top of the siliconed Rockwall and let them dry out overnight. When the silicone is cured just rinse and wash them with water and you are ready to go .
Concentrate more on the upper top part of the tank because any mistakes you make at the bottom part of the tank will eventually be covered by your substrate, plants and rocks.Just put in more effort on the parts of the tank that you can always see easily and it will save you a bit of time for any touch-up that you have to rectify later.
Be brave and try it out , no harm in trying , if you don't try you won't know . Anyway , there's a very reliable back-up if you messed up everything , just get another piece ( or pieces ) from us . We are always on hand to help and reach out to those who are in need !!!
Hopefully , these tips will aid you in the installation process . This is 1 case where the saying of 'easier said than done' just dosen't rings true !. It is much easier than what i am trying to describe here. No sweat , man ! Some guys have all the fun just what the vocalist with the spikey hair said , then again u can simply throw all these bells n whistles out and just let yr instinct to takes over naturally.
For all other enquiries , please call me directly . Count yourself lucky if i happen to be in a good mood when i recieve your call because there will be a bit of discount ,if the timing is bad just be prepared to be skinned and slaughtered !!! |
